Hello. I need some advice on shafts. I had been playing a set of Adams A4 irons in regular flex steel marked players flex and hit the ball well. Due to some nagging shoulder problems I purchased a set of Adams A 4 forged irons in graphite shafts. After a few rounds, my distance is less and accuracy off, they feel too soft (regular
Flex matrix 84). I like the A4’s and want to reshaft with steel. My profile is age 56 swing speed around 80-85 with 5 iron or driver, moderate tempo. Look forward to your advice.
David, Washington D.C., USA

David,

I might look at True Temper Dynalite Gold in R300 if you need to hit the ball higher or Dynamic Gold SL in R300 for lower ball flight.

Regards,

Hi. I found that the True Temper Release shafts were a perfect fit for my swing. True Temper doesn’t make this shaft any more. Is there another shaft that matches the Release characteristics?
Bill, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
Bill
Unfortunately no. The closest is likely the Dynalite but it is not as soft or high launch.

Jeff

Dusty,
That’s a new one to me…my guess would be that it’s regular.

I am considering building a Snake Eyes 10.5 or 11.5 driver. Should I build the 11.5 with the same shaft, or the 10.5 with the Proforce 65 High Launch shaft (with low bend point)? Your comments?
Andrew, Naperville, Illinois, USA

Andrew,

Without knowing your launch/spin numbers, it’s hard to say. But, what I can say, is that if ball flight is too low, look to loft first as a solution. The club loft will have more influence on trajectory than will shaft. Go to the 11.5 and see what happens.

Tim,
It depends on the raw length of the shaft, but in most cases, yes this can be done.

My swing speed is around 107 mph. My son took my driver so I am looking for a new one. I am considering the Titleist 909D2, which shaft(s) should I consider? I prefer a lower trajectory, X460 is rather high. I hit my Diablo 3 wood about 280 yards.

As a stock option do the Voodoo for a lower flight.

It depends on which Rifles they are and what flex they originally were designed to be. It might be better just to buy a set to be sure they match.

Ron
Pings are .355 taper. Thus the .370 shafts won’t fit. If they did, they would produce slightly higher flight.

Jeff

Bruce,

This is a guess without knowing the shafts, but if they are already wedge shafts, there is likely no tipping. But as they are 41″ long, there may be up to 4″ tipping. Without knowing more about the shafts, it’s impossible to say with any degree of certainty. Sorry…

They are .355″ taper. Yes, depending on what’s in them, lower trajectory can be achieved with shaft selection. In addition to the KB shafts, the True Temper Dynamic Gold is also a good low ball flight shaft.
