Chris, Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA

Chris,

You can’t go wrong with either Golfworks (Jim Yachinich is a super instructor) or Mitchell Golf. Either is great. Golfworks may be a better place to start as they are more basic at first than is Mitchell.

Blaine,

There are any number of ways such as newspaper ads, Tv ads, flyers at golf courses, demo days (if you do custom stuff), etc. The more imaginative you can get the better. Talking to local courses to see if you can get their repair business is a good idea. The more you get your name out, the better your chances of success. Good luck!

The weight cartridge from my TaylorMade r510 TP is missing.(It flew out upon impct of a drive and was no where to be found) I really love this driver and am trying desperatly to find a replacement cartridge for it. Do you know where one can be aquired? I have also contemplated pulling one from a r540 and using it in the TP. Is this a viable option? Thanks!
Adam, Hampstead, New Hampshire, USA

Adam

A few options available. First, you might try contacting TaylorMade directly and see what they can do for you. Second, you could look to Ebay and see what is available. Finally, you might try a website called www.driverweight.com. They produce replacement weights for the TaylorMade line of drivers.

Jeff, I’ve got Aerotech i80 stiffs in my irons with Mizuno MX-25 heads and I love them. I can’t find a hybrid that feels anything like my irons. I’ve got a Ping G5 19 degree hybrid with a Grafalloy ProLaunch Blue HY series stiff shaft. It feels nothing like my 3 iron, even though it is 1/2 inch longer. I believe my three iron head is 238 grams and the G5 head is 232. It seems I should be able to drop in an i80 shaft and tip to 2 iron length, but the i80 is a 370 tip and the G5 is a 350. Can you recommend a shaft? Thanks in advance. Great site.
Kenton, Naperville, Illinois, USA

Kenton,

Many players like the feel of the V2 from UST. I am not all that familiar with Aerotech, but I might check out their website and see if they have any .335″ shafts that you can shim into the .350″ tip G5.

Hi Jeff: I’m looking at a Dynacraft catalog and they have the raw data for shafts, then the “dynacraft cut shaft data” for the same shaft. I noticed that the cut data has an increase in torque value as the shaft is cut to playing length. This is from raw lengths of 46 inches to playing length of 45 inches. So, it seems cutting one inch yields an increase in torque and a decrease (naturally) of shaft weight, about 4 grams on average. For example, the Aldila NV65-S has a raw torque of 3.9 and a cut torque of 5.2. Wow! Help me with this?
Chris, Black Earth, Wisconsin, USA

Chris,

In most cases, what you are saying is correct. The relationship is not always 1-1 as far as how much cutting is done and how torque and weight change. Anytime a shaft is cut, it’s playing characteristics change. This may be especially true when cutting from the tip end. In any event, Jeff Summitt, the originator of the DSFI can be reached at www.hirekogolf.com he is the best around when it comes to shafts…tell him I sent you!
